Yakult Australia, the healthy digestive drink maker, has confirmed a data breach incident this week, after a threat actor leaked 95GB of it’s sensitive data.
As the company investigates the incident to find more details, a threat actor named DragonForce claimed responsibility for this hack, and leaked Yakult’s company data and employee information.
Disclosing After Data Leak
Yakult Australia, the maker of a Japanese probiotic milk has suffered a cybersecurity incident this week, as listed on it’s website. Affecting the IT systems in Australia and New Zealand, Yakult Australia said they’re investigating the incident for further details.
Promising to share more details later, Yakult Australia said they had informed the Australian Cyber Security Centre, the New Zealand Cyber Security Centre, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner New Zealand of this incident.
While it investigates the case, a threat actor named DragonForce has claimed responsibility for the incident and mentioned Yakult Australia as a victim on its dark website. The threat actor has earlier threatened the company to leak 95.19 GB of it’s stolen data, containing company database, contracts, passports and others.
Well, it has been done now, as confirmed by BleepingComputer. The leaked dump includes the data that they threatened to leak initially. This is a usual tactic followed by the cybercrime gangs today, known as double extortion method – where they initially leak a sample to force the victim to pay, and dump the whole data if they refuse.
