WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging app has been working on many features to make users’ experience more pleasant and efficient. Most of the features are initially rolled out to the iOS and Android app and then later on, rolled out for the Desktop App and the Web. WhatsApp already has a disappearing message feature that deletes the message from the chat after the some time. WhatsApp also has a feature that allows users to view photos and videos only once. It is a great feature especially if users want to send some sensitive photos and videos to others. At the moment, the feature is only available for the Android and iOS app of the chat application but this is about to change.
The view once photos and videos option is now coming to other platforms as Meta plans to roll out this feature for the Desktop App and the Web version of the instant messaging application. This feature was available for the Desktop App and Web previously but was removed from there due to security concerns. Now, Meta is again bringing the view once feature back to the desktop app and the web.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is rolling out the view once photos and videos feature on the Web and the Desktop app of the instant messaging application. The screenshot shared by the publication reveals that a button to enable the view once mode on photos and videos appears on the caption bar above the chat bar on both the Web and Desktop App. The publication also revealed that Meta is rolling out this feature for Windows, macOS and linked devices like iPads along with the Web version of the chat app.
Meta has started rolling out this feature to some users initially and will roll it out to everyone in the coming days. If you use WhatsApp on the Web or Desktop then make sure that you have the updated version of the app. Also, if the view once feature isn’t appearing on your device then be patient as it will soon be available to you.
The publication also revealed that this feature is making a comeback on the Web and the desktop app due to public demand and feedback. Meta removed this feature citing security concerns but feedback from users suggested that this is a useful feature and should be included on every platform of the app. So, based on public demand Meta has reinstated this feature on the Web and Desktop App version of the chat application.
