Ubisoft is investigating a potential data breach incident on it’s infrastructure, after an unknown threat actor posted pictures of the company’s internal tools online.
The threat actor claimed accessing Ubisoft’s systems for roughly 48 hours before being cut off. Ubisoft was breached twice in the last four years when the game data of War Dogs was leaked.
A Potential Data Leak at Ubisoft
Ubisoft, the French video game publisher well-known for it’s titles like Assassin’s Creed, FarCry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, is now in the crosshairs of an alleged security breach incident.
According to VX-Underground, an online research collective, an unknown threat actor claimed to have access to Ubisoft’s systems for around 48 hours and tried stealing around 900GB of data! Ubisoft had cut off this attempt in time but the allegation of a system breach is still open.
December 20th an unknown Threat Actor compromised Ubisoft. The individual had access for roughly 48 hours until administration realized something was off and access was revoked.
They aimed to exfiltrate roughly 900gb of data but lost access.

Thus, the game publisher is investigating the incident for more details, revealed to BleepingComputer. Alleged screenshots about the incident noted that the threat actor had breached Ubisoft’s systems on December 20th and accessed the company’s SharePoint server, Microsoft Teams, Confluence and MongoDB Atlas panel.
MongoDB Atlas has recently disclosed a data breach incident but it seems unrelated to the current Ubisoft incident, considering MongoDB’s disclosure.
This isn’t the first time Ubisoft was breached, though. The game publisher was first hacked in 2020 by the Egregor ransomware, which leaked the source code of the Watch Dogs game. Later, in 2022, Ubisoft suffered a second breach that disrupted it’s games, systems, and services.
