Twitter to Let Parody Accounts Earn Ad Revenue Too

Twitter to Dump Over 3,700 Employees Under Elon Musk

Earlier this week, several high-profile Twitter users were notified about an incoming payment from the platform – in the form of an ad revenue share, as promised by Elon Musk.

While it’s surprising that Elon Musk distributes earnings even during Twitter’s financial downfall, the new boss clarifies that even parody accounts can earn this way. Earlier, Twitter Creators eligible for earning ad revenue excluded parody accounts.

Ad Revenue Sharing With Parody Accounts

Just a couple of days ago, several high-profile users on Twitter said they were being notified about an incoming payment from Twitter – regarding their share of ads the platform has garnered over months. This plan was earlier crafted by Elon Musk, who said it would be a part of the current Blue subscription.

Though Musk stood on his promise, the bar for this earning is too high. Twitter Creators, as the earners are called, should either be subscribed to Blue subscription of Verified Organisations and have at least five million post impressions in the past three months!

Twitter Creators should also go through a human review to check their alignment with the company’s Creator Subscriptions policies and one of them is the exclusion of parody accounts – where anyone using animal personas, artificial characters or impersonations of others aren’t eligible to earn from Twitter ads.

This put a lot of parody accounts, some supported by Elon Musk, at bay for earning a living off Twitter. But this will all change, as Elon Musk is overturning this specific clause when requested by an unidentified fan.

The new boss told the fan to consider the policy deleted, letting parody accounts earn a part of Twitter’s ad revenue from replies.
