Threads Web Platform is Coming Soon, Alongwith a Better Search

Meta is working to bring a web version for it’s Threads app soon, probably by this weekend, says The Wall Street Journal citing Mark Zuckerberg.

A web platform for Threads is one of the most requested features, alongside many other essentials. Further, the same report states a refined search is also coming to Threads, which is now limited to finding accounts on the platform.

Threads Web Platform

After a hyped launch, Threads lost about 80% of its users in a month and trying to retain at least some of them, the new text-based social media adds new features almost weekly.

It started by adding a reverse chronological feed, verification on Mastodon, Alt text to media uploads etc and now, it’s working on a web version for it’s platform, says The Wall Street Journal. The report further states the Threads web vertical is coming this week alongside an improved search.

The Search function on Threads is currently limited to finding usernames and needs to be expanded. Also, the platform is missing other key elements like hashtags, Exploring Trends etc, on which X(formerly Twitter) survives.

The release of the Threads web version was earlier tipped by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who noted an early version was under internal testing and needed some work before wide release. Though we hope a stable version of this is coming soon on the cards, Meta may still delay as it hasn’t confirmed anything yet.
