Salesforce has joined the bunch of tech companies laying off people this month, cutting 700 employees this week.
Well, Salesforce also has 1,000 open roles across departments, so this job cut could probably be an internal adjustment. The company has already dumped around 10% of it’s workforce last year, citing the economic turmoil like other tech companies.
Salesforce Job Cuts in 2024
Salesforce, the cloud-based CRM company, has just announced cutting 700 roles across departments, without mentioning a proper reason. This represents 1% of it’s total workforce, noted Reuters.
While it seemed like a part of the ongoing job cuts in the tech industry, Salesforce is also hiring 1,000 roles across departments, noted the Wall Street Journal. So, this could be a mere internal workforce adjustment.
Anyhow, Salesforce is similarly exposed to the economic turmoil, like other tech companies cutting jobs to stay afloat after over-hiring during the pandemic. The company has already slashed it’s workforce by 10% and closed some offices last year, which eventually helped in the increased second and third-quarter revenue and annual profit forecasts.
Salesforce joins the long list of companies ditching employees in January 2024, including eBay, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc, with some offering severance benefits, while others dumping the staff citing over-hiring reasons.
