One of the many exciting additions Google made to it’s latest flagship smartphone – The Pixel 8 Series, is a dedicated troubleshooting app that helps users resolve battery and network issues.
Named Pixel Troubleshooting App, the application is available only to the Pixel 8 Series and may arrive to the rest of the Pixel fleet with a software update. On detecting an issue, the app will also provide users with solutions for rectifying it.
Troubleshooting App on The Pixel 8
The new Pixel 8 Series is one of the best Android handsets you can get today and it’s not because it’s coming from Google or it sports the latest Android OS but for several different reasons. One among them is for having a dedicated troubleshooting app to resolve battery and network issues.
Named Pixel Troubleshooting App, it is designed to help users identify and resolve standard battery and network problems on their device – currently limited to the Pixel 8 handsets and since this app is native to the Pixel 8 Series, it mostly runs in the background.
This is available in the device’s Settings > Battery > Battery diagnostics. Tapping on it will run a diagnostic scan to identify potential problems with your battery, and if found, it’ll show step-by-step instructions on how to resolve them. For example, if the app spots an app causing battery drain issues, it may suggest you uninstall or restrict it’s background activity to contain it’s usage.
Similarly, you can scan and diagnose the network and connectivity issues, too and if necessary, it’ll connect you to a Pixel support agent for support. You can also share the device’s diagnostic data with Google’s support agents to provide better support.
While it’s exciting and needed, Apple has had such an option for it’s iPhones for a long time, so, surprisingly, Android didn’t have a native functionality for battery and network troubleshooting to date. Hopefully, we shall see this in other Android handsets too, soon.
