OnePlus has amazing community developer support so today I wanted to give you a list of the best OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T custom ROMs that are available.
The amount of customizations (especially custom ROMs) is what has kept me using Android for so many years. Sure, it does suck when an OEM abandons their device and stops updating it after a couple of years. But if that device has good community developer support, then it can live on for many, many years after that.
These developers can also bring new features to a smartphone or tablet that simply ins’t possible with the stock firmware.
This isn’t possible with every smartphone or tablet out there. It helps when the OEM be open enough to allow things like unlocking the bootloader to be possible. On top of that, it helps when the community at large has an interest in the device. So we generally see community developer support for the very popular smartphones (like Samsung’s flagships) as well as very open ones like Nexus and OnePlus devices.
Since the OnePlus 3 has such a thriving developer community behind it, I thought it would be a great idea to comb through XDA and pull out the best OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T custom ROMs that are available. I recently showed you how to install a custom ROM on the OnePlus 3 in a previous tutorial, so be sure to check that out if you aren’t quite sure how it’s done. When you’re ready though, be sure to check out the list of OnePlus 3 custom ROMs down below.

The different OnePlus 3 custom ROMs listed above offer a special experience. Even the smallest changes can make someone love or hate a custom ROM since it simply a personal preference. If you’re looking for a custom ROM to try out, I recommend that you try out all of the ones listed above. Install a custom ROM, use it for about a week and then try another one. Go through them until you find the one you like the most.
If you’re looking for suggestions, I am a big fan of CyanogenMod 13 as it provides enough features to satisfy my appetite, while not going over board. If you do want to go overboard, then check out ROMs like PAC-MAN as it combines features from a number of different ROMs. If you’re looking for a clean custom ROM then Paranoid Android is a good one to go with. FreedomOS is similar to OxygenOS, but with some bloat removed.
XOSP will give you a similar experience that you might be used to with Sony Xperia smartphones. HydrogenOS is what OnePlus uses on the OnePlus 3 for the Asian market (and the experience is drastically different than OxygenOS). Custom ROMs like Bliss, Resurrection Remix, Beanstalk and Dirty Unicorns have a dedicated group of followers. And then there’s a couple of CM13 builds from well known developers like Temasek and arter97.
can i use any of these on Hydrogen OS ?
These replace HydrogenOS
