You can change the default splash screen (also known as the splash screen) of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T by installing flashing a ZIP file in TWRP.
When you boot up your OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, you’ll eventually be greeted with what is called the boot logo (and sometimes referred to as the splash screen). This isn’t the boot animation, but is actually the screen right before it. By default, the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T simply show a white OnePlus logo with the Powered by Android logo at the bottom.
Thanks to an XDA member though, we can customize this if we want.
As of right now, there are only a limited number of themes/images that we can choose from. This includes things like Game of Thrones, Captain America, Batman, Star Wars, Breaking Bad and more. The last time the thread was updated was toward the end of January, but we could get some new options in the future. The person who came up with these is known as B!Gguy over on XDA, so be sure you check the thread to look at the screenshots with sample images.
Note – You will need to unlock the bootloader of the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T in order to install this mod. You’ll also need to have TWRP installed one the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T so that you can flash the mod onto your device. You should also create a Nandroid backup of the OnePlus 3 before installing this mod just in case it isn’t compatible with your device.

Explanation
If you followed along with the tutorial I wrote up yesterday about how to install the aptX codec on the OnePlus 3, then the process is very similar. Thanks to the XDA member who whipped these up, it’s just a simple ZIP file that you need to download and then flash onto your OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T. The process is incredibly easy if you’ve ever installed something with TWRP in the past. The toughest part is to find a custom boot logo you like since there’s so many to choose from.
Once you have the custom boot logo for the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T downloaded onto your device, you can then boot it into Recovery Mode. This should be TWRP, or any other custom recovery that lets you flash ZIP files. Once there, simply tap on the Install button and then browse to where you downloaded the ZIP file. Go ahead and tap on it and then all you have to do is swipe the white arrows to the right to begin the installation.
The install should be incredibly quick since there isn’t much to this modification. All we’re doing is replacing the default boot logo for the OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T with the one you downloaded. As you can see in the video above, the installation should only take 1-2 seconds and you shouldn’t see any errors either. Once the installation has finished, you should see a Reboot System button appear at the bottom right of the screen.
Just tap on that button and that will reboot you out of TWRP and start booting you into the regular Android OS. After the text that appears on the screen, you should then see the custom boot logo image appear. This should only be there for a few seconds since it’s just replacing the default one that you normally see. You’ll then be booted back into Android and you can use your phone just like you normally would.
Would you consider doing a tutorial on installing a custom splash screen and boot animation? Thanks
I can look into that. Thank you for the suggestion
