Threads is adding support for polls and GIFs to let users be more expressive, as announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday.
Demonstrating the poll feature with a post, he also stated that Threads is close to attaining the 100 million daily active users mark. While Giphy powers the GIFs, Polls have a timer and support for four options.
Polls and GIFs in Threads
Though Meta rushed to launch a Twitter competitor, watching how Elon Musk messed up, it still feels like Threads is not a worthy rival of X(formerly Twitter) yet and it’s because of a lot of reasons. Though launched with significant hype, Meta’s Threads lack many essential features to stand against X, even at the latter’s lowest.
Though Meta with it’s deep pockets, is trying to make it better, it’s still a far way. Anyhow, it’s doing it’s part. The latest in this pursuit is the addition of polls and GIFs to Threads, which allows users be more transparent and creative in posting.
Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this addition, with an example of a post with a poll. The reference has three options(although you can add up to four) and a timer that counts down how long users have to vote in the poll in real-time. To see how many users voted for each option, you should join the party, too. And if you vote, Threads will notify you when the poll concludes to see the overall results.
This aside, Threads users can now post GIFs, too, powered by Giphy. While making a post, click on the GIF selector to open the GIF panel, where you can see the trending GIFs or search for a specific one.
Mark Zuckerberg has also stated the new social media platform has “just under” 100 million monthly active users, making it one of the fastest-growing social platforms of all time.
