Meta’s Threads app is on a roll, as the new social media platform hit 100 million sign-ups in just five days!
This stat puts Threads ahead of ChatGPT, which reached the same milestone in two months. While it’s an astonishing feat to achieve, Meta should instead focus on keeping the users on Threads for longer times, which is an important metric and utterly unrelated to the sign-up record.
Threads App Adoption Record
Leveraging the turmoil at Twitter after Musk’s takeover, Meta quickly made a Twitter alternative called Threads last week. The new social platform is more like Twitter but has Instagram aesthetics and 100 million users already! This feat was astounding, considering it took only five days to achieve it.
This stat comes from Quiver Quantative, which tracks the Threads account numbers shown on Instagram pages. Instagram integration has played a significant role in Threads’ success, with Meta letting people join Threads with their existing Instagram credentials.
With the sign-up process made easy and Meta courting famous figures to the new platform, Threads has hit 100 million users in just five days after launch! For instance, OpenAI’s ChatGPT took about two months to gain this feat and was considered the craziest adoption rate then.
Well, though Threads has set a new record, it needs to focus on many essential metrics – like the daily active users and engagement times. As we don’t have these statistics as yet, we can’t call Threads’ initial adoption a success.
Yet, Meta’s deep pockets and vast network can help Threads grow exponentially in the next few weeks. The new platform(available on the web and also as a mobile app) has everything a social platform should have, except the hashtags, DMs and trends explorer – which are more important.
Hopefully, Meta will bring these options sooner to get the new ship going after last week’s grand launch.
