Less than a day after the rumoured launch, Meta officially announced the launch of the Threads web platform today, and it will be rolling out later this week.
Mark Zuckerberg shared the same on his Threads profile, while a spokesperson confirmed it’s rollout to The Verge today. Though it’s coming earlier than expected, Threads web users are limited in their actions, although the platform is working to make it seem on par with it’s mobile apps.
Threads Web Platform is the Official
The newest social media – Threads, has just announced it’s web platform for browser users, rolling out sometime this week. This news comes after several rumours touting it’s launch, including the Instagram head Adam Mosseri.
Well, though it’s official now, Threads web users can only post, interact with other posts and scroll through the feed for now. Other actions like editing their profile or sending a thread to Instagram DMs are currently unavailable.
While severely limited, Threads is working to bring the web platform’s experience on par with it’s mobile counterparts. Until now, persons who are trying to access the Threads web platform were shown a QR code, redirecting them to download the mobile clients.
But now, the threads on the web can let you do a few actions, as mentioned above. The new web interface looks much like the mobile version but with small differences. The navigation icons on the web are on the top of the page and to switch between the For You and Following feeds, you should click a button in the bottom-left corner.
We expect more radical changes to Threads clients in the coming days, considering how badly Meta wants to grab X’s user base. The new platform is still missing key elements like hashtags, trends explorer and the ability to find posts across the platform, which is currently limited to finding just the account names.
