Meta pushed the first-ever update to the Threads iOS app this week, adding many new features and improving the UI slightly.
New features include a Follows tab in the activity feed, letting Threads users see their Instagram followers, translation to post text and others. Also, the latest update should make the iOS client smoother and lighter, especially when scrolling through the home feed.
New Features of Threads App
After a grand launch earlier this month, Meta’s new Threads app is receiving it’s first-ever update – but only iOS clients for now. The update adds a new ‘Follows‘ tab to the activity feed – making it easier to see who followed you recently, and there is also an option to follow them back.
Also, you can now see your Instagram follower list as to not miss anyone. Further, the Threads iOS client is gaining translation support for post text – to make you see the translation for any unfamiliar languages your circle post and now, you can even subscribe to unfollowed users, so you still get notifications of their new posts without crowding the feed.
Finally, a slight revamp to the app UI will allow you to tap on the repost label and it will feel lighter and smoother. While these are exciting additions, the Threads platform is yet to gain some vital stuff like a chronological feed, direct messages and hashtags.
Moreover, the linkage between Instagram and the Threads app worries some users, as they can’t remove their Threads account without deleting their respective Instagram account! Hopefully, Meta is working to address all these and push updates to Android clients also, as soon as possible.
