Citing an analyst note, 9to5Mac reported that the iPhone 15 Ultra(or Pro Max) shipments could be delayed by at least 3-4 weeks due to camera issues.
The report noted that Apple’s supplier, Sony, couldn’t secure the periscopic telephoto lens for the iPhone 15 Ultra in time, resulting in delayed deliveries. Other models in the lineup – iPhone 15, 15 Plus and 15 Pro may be delivered a week after their launch, as usual.
Delaying iPhone 15 Ultra Shipments
While Apple is gearing up for it’s big event next month, a new report from 9to5Mac states the high-end variant of the iPhone 15 Series – iPhone 15 Ultra, could be delayed by 3-4 weeks and it’s due to the supply chain issues from Sony, which secures the rear camera lens for the iPhone 15 Ultra.
It was reported that the iPhone 15 Ultra might support up to 10x variable zoom from it’s periscopic telephoto lens in line with the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. While this cause may delay the Ultra’s shipments, other models that fall under the iPhone 15 Series may ship a week after their launch since they don’t come with a periscopic telephoto lens.
Touting the launch of the iPhone 15 Series to be on September 12, Apple may allow pre-orders for the iPhone 15, 15 Plus and 15 Pro from September 15, with deliveries starting from September 22 and a 3-4 week delay for the iPhone 15 Ultra may set it’s deliveries between October 6 and October 13.
This aside, the upcoming flagship series is expected to have USB-C port instead of Apple’s Lightening port, Dynamic Island for iPhone 15 and 15 Plus(earlier restricted for iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max).
Furthermore, the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra models are expected to come in a titanium finish instead of stainless steel and have the mute switch replaced with a new Action button for various purposes.
