Finally, Apple decided to equip USB-C on the latest iPhone 15 Series, so users can try charging their Apple Watch or AirPods Pro 2 with their iPhones for the first time.
While charging your Apple accessories via MacBooks isn’t new, juicing them up with iPhones is a novel technique, as Apple seeds the necessary support now. While it’s interesting, it requires you to have a USB-C to USB-C cable.
Charging Apple Accessories With iPhones
The EU’s push for forcing Apple to adopt USB-C port for it’s latest devices has many use cases. While the major is that you can use any standard USB-C pin to charge iPhones 15 Series, these handsets can now be used for charging related accessories like AirPods Pro 2 and Apple Watch.
For a long time, we have been charging AirPods and Apple Watch through Macs since they have the needed hardware connections. And with Apple equipping USB-C on the iPhone 15 Series, we can do the same with these handsets’ too.
All you need is a USB-C to USB-C cable, where hooking one end to any iPhone 15 handset can charge an Apple Watch or AirPods Pro 2 if connected to the other end of the cable. Apple highlighted this new functionality in it’s iPhone 15 Pro announcement, and it makes sense, as it’s better to carry a single USB-C to USB-C cable instead of carrying a battery pack around, all the time.
