It seems like Instagram is working to compete with TikTok and YouTube shorts in every aspect. As per the popular tipster, Instagram might allow users to post reel videos of up to 10 minutes.
At present, Instagram allows users to post Reels of up to 3 minutes maximum and if it allows users to post reels of 10 minutes then it comes much closer to mimicking TikTok completely.
Tipster Alessandro Paluzzi shared two screenshots side by side of the reel pages. One screenshot shows a 3-minute reel video page while the second screenshot shows a 10-minute reel video. As of writing this post, Meta has not officially confirmed it’s intention of allowing users to post reel videos of up to 10 minutes.

For those of you who didn’t know, TikTok initially started offering short-form videos but now it also allows users to post videos of up to 10 minutes. The free users can post up to 10 minutes of videos on TikTok, while the paid users can post up to 20 minutes of videos on the platform.
Instagram is now trying to completely copy all the features that TikTok offers due to the huge demand for short-form videos. And if this feature rolls out then Instagram which is famous just as a photo-sharing app might transition towards a social media app that has all forms of content posted on it.
If we talk about YouTube shorts, then YouTube short is still capped at 60 seconds which is the initial limit for the TikTok videos when TikTok launched globally. However, most of YouTube videos/shorts are up to 10 minutes.
So, if Instagram increases the time limit of Reel videos, then content creators can post/create longer videos and show more content. This might be a way to attract more users than TikTok and YouTube.
However, these videos are not called short-form videos if every platform allows users to post longer videos. TikTok started the trend of short-form videos in 2019 and the app gained huge popularity among Gen Z, especially in the lockdown that was caused by The Covid-19 virus. Following the success of TikTok in the short-form video category, popular apps like YouTube, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram rolled out short-form video features that allow users to post short videos of up to sixty seconds, similar to TikTok.
