Along with changing the icon pack for various themes, the HTC 10 also has a way for you to change the Font and you can follow these steps to change yours.
I’ve been focusing a lot on HTC’s theme engine lately, and today will wrap up that part of the Sense software on the HTC 10. Much like you can change the HTC 10 icon packs, you can also change the Font you’re currently using on your device. This can be changed on the default/stock theme that comes with the HTC 10, or you can change just the Font of your favorite theme that you’ve previously chosen.
I really like the way HTC allows their customers to pick and choose different aspects of the themes they want to use. So you can pick one theme and use its backgrounds, sounds, etc.
And then you can go in and change font and use one from a completely different theme. You can then go through and pick out a completely different icon pack from a different theme and use it on the one you like the most. It really does give the customer a lot of choice as to who they want to customize their smartphone.
So let me show you how to change the Font on the HTC 10.
HTC 10 Change Font
- Long press on an empty spot of the Home Screen
- Tap the ‘Edit Current Theme’ option
- Scroll down and tap on the ‘Font’ option
- Browse through and tap on the Font you like the most
- Tap on the ‘Download’ button
- Wait for it to download and then tap on the ‘Apply’ button
- Then press the Home button after the Font has been applied to your theme
Explanation
So just like with the previous tips I have written up for the various HTC 10 theme features, we start the same way as before. You’ll need to tap and long press on an empty space of the Home Screen. After a few seconds of holding your finger/thumb there, you’ll notice a Personalize pop-up box appear in the middle of the screen. You want to look for and tap on the Edit Current Theme option and this will take you to another screen.
So like before, we have a number of different theme edit options here, but we want to scroll all the way down to the bottom. At the bottom, you’ll see an option labeled Font, and this is what you want to tap on. This will bring up a list of various Fonts for you to choose from. In the video above, you’ll see me switching from the Collection section to the From HTC section via the drop down menu at the top of the screen.
So be sure you’re browsing through this section so you can look at all of the various Fonts that HTC is offering for your device. So just go through and tap on the Font you like the most. Just like with downloading a theme (and downloading other aspects of a theme), you’ll see a Download button on the right side of the screen (below the screenshots). You’ll want to tap on this button so you can download the Font to your HTC 10.
Once the download completes, you’ll see this switch to an Apply button. So go ahead and tap on the new Apply button and wait a couple of seconds. This will change your current theme to the one you just picked out, and you’ll see a toast message appear at the bottom of the screen to tell you that it’s been applied successfully. Simply press the Home button to exit the HTC theme store and go back to the Home Screen.
You should see all of the text on your HTC 10 now using the newly downloaded Font you picked out. This should apply everywhere, even in 3rd-party applications that you’ve downloaded from the Play Store. It’s possible that an app can override this, but those cases should be rather slim as most will use the default Font (which is now the new Font you just picked out).
