So we have our Samsung Galaxy S22 rooted with Magisk and in this article, we will show you how to unroot this device using the PC program Odin. This process will also work with the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus and even the standard Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Also, remember that in order for things to be reverted back to 100 percent stock firmware, we are going to lose all of our data in the process. So, be sure to back up your important information before you begin with this tutorial.
Preparing for the Unrooting Process
To start, we need to download the firmware for our device. We have already written some tutorials that mention how to download these firmware files using programs like frija and Samfirm. We can also use websites like SamMobile and Sam FW to get them. We need to ensure that we download the official Samsung firmware files from a trusted source.
We will also need to make sure that the firmware we downloaded matches the region of the firmware we already have installed on our device. The last thing we will download is the program Odin, which we will use to flash the firmware files to our smartphones.
Here is the step-by-step guide to Unroot our Samsung Galaxy S22 series:
Step 1: Downloading Necessary Files
Download Odin and Firmware files for your Samsung Galaxy S22 device on your PC.
Step 2: Powering Off the Device
Power off your device completely.
Step 3: Entering Download Mode
Boot your device into what is known as download mode. If you don’t know how to do it, you can check the link to find out how to do it.
Step 4: Connecting to PC
Connect your device to your PC via a USB cable.

Step 5: Extracting Firmware Files
The firmware file you downloaded is in Zip format. Extract the firmware file on your PC. Once extracted, you will see five different files, and you need to flash four of these files from Odin into your smartphone.
Step 6: Using Odin
Open Odin on your PC and ensure it detects your Samsung Galaxy S22 device.
Step 7: Loading Firmware Files into Odin
Now, we need to load these files into Odin. So, click the bl button in Odin and find the file from the firmware files you extracted that starts with the letters Bl. Similarly, click the CP button, and then we will load the firmware file that begins with the letters CP. Next, we will click the CSC button and choose the file that starts with CSC. Lastly, we are going to load up the AP file in Odin. It is a large file that will take some time to load up, so be patient.
It is a very large firmware file. This contains the bulk of our firmware, so after we load in that AP file, it is going to take a little bit of time before the file is loaded. You are likely to see Odin not responding as your computer unpacks that file and loads it into Odin.
Note: Do not click anything or change anything; just wait until Odin catches up and loads that AP file. Be patient while this massive nine-gigabyte file gets loaded.
Step 8: Starting the Flashing Process
Once all the firmware files are loaded, click on the start button at the bottom to begin the process. Odin will start copying the firmware files to your Samsung Galaxy S22 and then flashing or installing the files to your Galaxy S22. You can see the progress bar right at the top and if you look at the smartphone toward the bottom of the screen, you are likely to see a progress bar right there as well.
The process will take some time, so be patient and do not touch or do anything to your PC or smartphone. Just let Odin do its work and flash the stock firmware files to your smartphone. The process will be exactly the same for all three devices in the Galaxy S22 series.
Step 9: Finalizing the Unrooting
Once you see a green Pass message at the top of Odin, your smartphone will reboot automatically. Once your smartphone has rebooted, unplug the USB, and you will enter the Android activation process. The first boot back into Android takes time, as we have essentially done a big factory data reset.
Conclusion
That’s it. This is the step-by-step guide to unroot your Samsung Galaxy S22 series and install a stock firmware file. All your device data will be removed/deleted, and your device will be back to 100 percent stock and unrooted. Just install all your apps and use the device as usual. You will also be able to receive and install over-the-air updates on your device, just like normal.
