How To Fix Unable to send SMS messages Huawei P40:
Check whether the service of your phone has been suspended due to it being out of credit. If not, check whether only some SMS messages cannot be sent or no SMS messages can be sent.
For example, try sending SMS messages to your carrier. If the messages can be sent, it means only some SMS messages cannot be sent.
No SMS messages can be sent:
Disable and re-enable Airplane mode, then try again.
If the switch for VoLTE has been turned on for the SIM card you are using, turn it off and try again.
If you are using a third-party SMS app, the issue may be caused by an incompatibility with this app.
In this case, open Settings, search for and access Default apps, and set Messaging to Default.
If a red exclamation mark is displayed for the SMS message which failed to send, touch and hold the message, go to More > View details, and contact your carrier to report the error code.
Some SMS messages cannot be sent:
If you are sending a group message, check whether the screen is off when the message is being sent. It is recommended that you keep the screen on or charge the phone when sending a group message.
If you cannot send messages to a short number, perform the following: Open Settings, search for and access Premium SMS access, locate Messaging, and set it to Ask.
If the issue persists:
Restore the settings for Messaging.
EMUI 5.X and 8.X: Go to Messaging > More > Settings and select Restore default settings.
Clear the data and cache of the Messaging app. (Your SMS messages will not be deleted.)
Open Settings, search for and access Apps, locate Messaging, then go to Storage > CLEAR DATA.
Reset network settings:
Open Settings, search for and access Reset network settings, reset the network settings of your phone (this will delete your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection records), and try again.
Back up your data and restore your phone to its factory settings. If the issue still persists, take your device and proof of purchase to an authorized Huawei Customer Service Center for assistance.
