Though Google TV and Android TVs offer great flexibility, they still have a lot of room for improvement, especially in the audio management section.
People who want to switch the audio output between TV speakers and a Bluetooth device should dig deep into settings, which is frustrating. Thus, Google is testing a new audio switch option in the Quick Settings to ease things.
Google’s Audio Switcher in Quick Settings
Google announced a number of things at CES 2024, like Fast Pairing, Quick Share, Chromecast features, etc, but didn’t mention a new audio switcher coming to Android and Google TVs – one of the highly requested features.
Currently, Google TV or Android TV users who want to switch their audio output between speakers or a Bluetooth device should go deep into the TV settings, which is often annoying. And it could be more frustrating if it’s a regular occurrence.
Thus, understanding the pain, Google added a new audio switcher in Quick Settings to let users swap between the TV speakers and Bluetooth devices seamlessly. This was demoed at CES 2024 but Google didn’t explicitly highlight it.
Well, the demo shows that the feature is quick and easy and doesn’t stop the video playing in the background. As we wonder why Google didn’t have this option till now, there’s no clear timeline on when it could arrive on Google TVs or Android TVs.
