Months after serving the community with Bard – it’s free AI chatbot, Google is now preparing a paid version of this tool called Bard Advanced, reported new leaks.
While the exact date for it’s official launch is unknown, Bard Advanced could be tied to a Google One subscription and comes with a free three-month trial plan. Furthermore, leaks suggest Bard Advanced may rely on Gemini Ultra, the high-end variant of Google’s Gemini AI.
Google Bard Advanced in Wild
Just a year after ChatGPT was launched, the race for being the best AI chatbot is getting more competitive, with players like Google, Microsoft and Meta launching similar tools. One among them – Google Bard is set to get a premium version with advanced capabilities, as spotted in it’s code.
Founded by an X user, Bedros Pamboukian, a code snippet in Bard points to an Advanced version with a defunct link to Google One. This explains that the Bard Advanced may be included in a Google One subscription, although it’s unknown which tier it’ll be bundled with.
hi, bard advanced will be free for 3 months and you'll need Google One too, enjoysies
the fact that it's in prod implies it's ready & being tested (currently an experiment)
again, not a leaker, but Google keeps putting stuff in plain sight and literally nobody realizes… pic.twitter.com/YqfAK77f0F

Well, the code also states that users can get the Bard Advanced free for three months as a trial plan. Google first announced Bard Advanced in December 2023, alongside an AI hypercomputer from Google Cloud and Gemini chatbot – which further includes Gemini Ultra, Gemini Nano and Gemini Pro versions.
Reports stated that Bard Advanced will be based on Gemini Ultra, although it’s not publicly available yet. Google is currently testing the Bard Advanced with a small group(which is why the code is visible). While there’s no specific release date for Bard Advanced yet, it may be unveiled sometime before April 2024, considering Google said in December that it’ll be available “early next year“.
