Google Assistant has gained support for the summarization of web page content, which makes it easier for you to understand and save time.
This addition was spotted in the latest beta version of the Google app, which added a new Summarize option aside from Read and Lens buttons. Once available, you can ask Google Assistant to summarise and read an article or read it yourself.
Google Assistant Summarization
Google Assistant is one of the highly ignored features on Android, though it’s so helpful in the modern world. Well, with the invention of ChatGPT, Google is aggressively cooking Generative AI features into most of it’s apps, with Google Assistant having it’s turn now.
As spotted by 9to5Google, the latest beta version of the Google app(version 14.29) has a new “Summarize” option added alongside the “Lens” and “Read” votes when the quick menu is opened through the “Hey Google” hot word.
This, if publicly available, will let you summarise the content of a web page to read easily and quickly. A similar feature is already available on Google Docs and Gmail, where you can summarise the text body for quicker understanding.
Though it’s available for Google Assistant now, the feature seems broken and inoperable. Maybe it’ll be fixed in the later versions before launching publicly? Also, the summarise feature on Google Assistant appears to be available only for Chrome web pages or a Custom Tab based on Chrome.
Moreover, this feature could be made exclusively for Pixel smartphones like others, via “Call Screen”, “Hold for me” and “Quick phrases“, considering it a native development from Google.
