Once you have downloaded your KitKat custom ROM, you’ll need a Gapps package. You can download the Google apps and services bundle for Android 4.4 KitKat right here.
You certainly don’t have to install Google applications and services after you install a custom ROM onto your smartphone. I’ve tried to use my Nexus 5 before without a Gapps package and it was a painful experience. You can get by with installing open source application markets like F-Droid, but if the apps you are looking for isn’t there then you have to hunt them down individually.
Some people prefer this and keep their preferred applications on their computer so they don’t have to hunt them down each time.
Thankfully with Android, we have the choice and you can choose to use Google applications or you can choose to not use them. I am always installing Google application packages onto my devices so this will help me(and hopefully you) always have a reliable place for you to download them. I will do my best to keep this page with an active link at all times. If you have an issue with the download(dead link or whatever) then please leave a comment at the bottom of the page to let me know. This way I can get it fixed as soon as possible.

Explanation
Since it is hard for these download services to make enough ad revenue to operate them, they generally implement some sort of timer on there. In the case of BasketBuild, there is a 15-second timer. So, once you click the link in the guide above, you’ll want to scroll down all the way and look for a timer. It starts off at 15 and counts down to 0. Once it reaches zero, you’ll see a ‘Download File’ button appear and this is what you want to click. You can look at the image below to get an idea of what you are looking for.
You’re going to want to download this zip file onto your smartphone or tablet so that you can flash it through the custom recover you have installed. However, you could download it onto your PC and then transfer it over to your device with a micro USB cable, or even transferring it onto a micro SD card so you can insert it into the slot. Either way you go, you want to get the zip file onto your smartphone or tablet so it can be installed.
Again, if the link is dead or if something isn’t working/downloading properly, leave a comment below to let me know.
