In today’s tutorial, I want to show you how to turn the LED light off when you’re charging the Galaxy S7, making a voice recording or receiving notifications.
The LED light on our smartphones and tablets can be very useful for telling us when we have a notification waiting for us. Some like to use it so we know when the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is being charged. Samsung also uses the LED light to display when we are making a voice recording. There are some who really dislike this feature though.
They find it distracting and generally not useful at all. For example, I know when my Galaxy S7 is being charged, I don’t need the LED being lit constantly just to tell me something that I already know.
On some OEM skins, and even some custom ROMs, there are granular options for turning this Galaxy S7 LED light off or on for specific tasks. Personally, I enjoy the subtle reminder the LED light gives me when I have a notification waiting for me on the Galaxy S7. However, I have no need for this to be on when the S7 is charging or when making a voice recording. I wish Samsung gave us more control over which features were allowed to use the LED light, but sadly they do not. It seems to be an all or nothing feature with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. So today, I want to show you how to enable and disable the LED light completely.
As with most of these features, you have the option to go back at any time and enable or disable this feature in the future. So, if you don’t like the feature right now then you can disable it. But if you realize later that you actually want to use the feature then you can simply dive back into the Settings app and enable the LED light again.
Galaxy S7 Turn Off LED
- Launch the Settings Application
- Scroll Down and Tap on the ‘Display and Wallpaper’ Option
- Then Scroll Down and Toggle the ‘LED Indicator’ Option On or Off
Explanation
So again, the main point of this tutorial is mainly to let you know the feature is available on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. I also write this so that I can show you exactly where the feature is at within the Settings. There are so many features that can be turned on and off within the Settings of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge that it can be confusing at times. I also like to have these tips and tricks tutorials here on the website as a reference for those who know a feature is there but is unable to remember how to do it. This way, you can simply come back here, dive into the tips or tutorials section of the Galaxy S7 and quickly find which guide you’re looking for.
To locate this LED light toggle, all you have to do is launch the Settings application and then scroll down until you see the Display and Wallpaper option. Tap on this to go into this sub-menu and then scroll down again. Toward the bottom of the screen you’ll see a toggle labeled LED Indicator. This is enabled by default, and as I mentioned, it toggles the LED light on and off while the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is charging, while you are making a voice recording and when you have an unread notification waiting for you. If you toggle this feature off, it will disable the Galaxy S7 LED light for all three of these features.
