If you have a Samsung Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge, you might have noticed that a few of your toggles have disappeared recently. Users from around the Android community have been talking about toggles like mobile data, mobile hotspot and the private hotspot have just up and disappeared. Samsung has acknowledged the issue but tells us that they don’t actually know what the culprit is at this time.
The company is currently working on a fix and it will be pushed out in an OTA update coming soon. For now, the company is suggesting their users simply backup their data and then perform a factory reset.
If that is not what you want to do then I have some good news for you 🙂 There’s a new application out there that will restore your missing toggles and you don’t even need root access in order to fix it(like some previous fixes required). The process is very quick and very simple and here are the steps you need to take.
Galaxy S6 Fix Missing Toggles
- Launch the Galaxy Apps Application
- Download and Install the QuickPanel Restore Application
- Launch QuickPanel Restore
- Tap on the Restore Button at the Bottom
- Then Confirm That You Want to Uninstall it
Explanation
There are a couple of ways that you can get the QuickPanel Restore application onto your Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The first way is to launch the Galaxy Apps application on your device and search for the QuickPanel Restore application and download it. Another way is to click the link from the guide above while you are on the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge and then it will take you directly to the app page. A third way would be to head to this XDA thread to download and install the APK directly. I tried searching for it with my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and it wouldn’t show up so Samsung might be limiting the application to only the S6 and S6 Edge.
Once you download it, go ahead and launch it like you would any other application from the Galaxy Apps store and look toward the bottom. You should see a big blue Restore button that you can press. After you tap on the Restore button, you will be prompted to uninstall the application. After the application has done its work(after you tap the Restore button), you don’t need it on your device anymore. It is your choice on whether or not you want to uninstall it but we suggest that you do since there’s no need to have it installed anymore. You shouldn’t need to reboot your Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge but if you still can’t see the toggles then it might be best.
It’s quite strange that Samsung hasn’t told anyone exactly why this has happened and users are forced to install these little applications in order to fix a bug that was dormant in their software all this time. Developers can’t squash every single bug in any complex software like this and I’m not blaming them for that. I just wish there was a little more transparency about the situation and that their customer service representatives weren’t telling users to do a factory reset in order to fix a bug that will come back right after a device has been reset.
