Smartphones are getting more and more complex and the Samsung Galaxy S6 isn’t any different. Thankfully we have an Easy Mode on the S6 to simplify everything for you.
I know people like my father are a little intimidated with a smartphone because there’s just so many complex layers to it. For someone who just wants some select unique features of a smartphone, without having everything thrown at you. The Galaxy S6 Easy Mode is a solution to this.
Now, someone who doesn’t want all of those features to confuse them they can just enable this and be done with all(or most of) the heavy TouchWiz feeling.
Galaxy S6 Easy Mode
- Launch the Settings Application
- Scroll Down and Tap on the ‘Easy Mode’ Menu Section
- Tap on the ‘Easy Mode’ Option
- Then Scroll Down and Enable/Disable Apps as You See Fit
Explanation
The goal here is to make things as simple as possible for the end-user. This means larger applications icons as well as fewer features available. For someone who just wants a phone with the added ability to do things like email, use a calculator or browse the web, then Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Easy Mode can be a life saver. The first thing you’ll need to do is launch the Settings application and then scroll down until you find the ‘Personal’ section.
Within this section you will find a lot of different menu options to choose from but you’ll want to look through and find the ‘Easy Mode’ option. After you tap into this sub-menu, you’ll be taken directly to the Easy Mode settings. There will be two options listed at the top, one reads Standard Mode while the other reads Easy Mode. Unless you have enabled this feature in the past then Standard Mode will be selected and Easy Mode will not. Go ahead and tap on the Easy Mode option here and then scroll down to the ‘Easy Applications’ list that you see at the bottom.
In the Easy Applications list you will find a dozen or so applications with on and off toggles to the right of them. If you(or whoever you are setting this up for) doesn’t need things like a file browser or access to a video player, then you can toggle the My Files and Video applications off. Toggling these files off will put less applications in the launcher of your Galaxy S6. Once you are sure about which applications you want and which applications you don’t want, you can then press the big ‘Done’ button at the very top and then press the Home button to be taken to your brand new Easy Mode home screen.
Once you are back to your new Galaxy S6 Easy Mode home screen, you’ll most likely see that you have three screens available. the main/middle one is for things like your clock, the weather, your location and some of your most used applications. If you swipe to the right home screen then you’ll see even more applications to choose from. Swipe to the left and you’ll see a page for contacts. You’ll need to go through and add in the contacts you want most here so they are just a swipe and a tap away from being accessed.
I’m reading that the Galaxy S6 Easy Mode applications aren’t generally that much easier to grasp than the regular ones. I guess the Galaxy S6 Easy Mode is mainly for the home screen launcher more than the applications itself. Still, you will notice some differences between the Standard Mode application interfaces and the Easy Mode ones. If you want to turn the Galaxy S6 Easy Mode back off, you’ll just need to go back into the settings, find the same section as before and then tap on the Standard Mode option before tapping on the Done button again.
