While we’re on the subject on the Galaxy S6 launcher home screen, let me show you a way to customize the default home screen for your device.
Adding to the list of features that I wish would be implemented into the Google Now Launcher, here I wanted to show you a way that you can change the default home screen on your Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. This feature also works on most, if not all, of the Samsung devices running the company’s Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
So, when you are on a page of your home screen, that is not the default one, and you press the Home button on your phone or tablet, then you see the pages swipe by as you are taken to the screen that is set as the default.
For example, if you are on page 3 of your home screen, and then you hit the Home button, then you’ll be instantly taken to page 1 of your home screen. That is, assuming that page 1 is set to the default(which it is unless you change this). Today’s tip will show you how you can change this from page 1 to any other page on your device.
Galaxy S6 Change Default Home Screen
- Access the Galaxy S6 Launcher Settings
- Swipe to the Page You Want as the Default
- Tap on the House Icon at the Top of the Page
- Make sure the House Icon is Now Lit
- Press the Home or Back Button to Exit the Launcher Settings
Explanation
As you can see from the image at the top of this article, when you access the launcher settings of your device, you’ll see a Home icon above each and every one of your pages. Only one of these can be lit up and this means that page is the default home screen page. By default, page 1 is the page that is lit and this means that when you press the Home button, you’re taken to that page. Now, if we swipe over to page 2 or 3 or 4, and then tap on that Home icon, we’ll see it light up.
Then, when we are on any page of the home screen, when we press the Home button, we’ll be taken to the page we just set as the default. This is a great little feature for those who don’t want the first page to be the default screen. Sometimes we want page 2 or page 3 to be the default screen. I remember on my Nexus 4, page three was the default screen and I had gotten used to this for a while. This changed with KitKat because of the introduction of the Google Now page but not everyone likes this change. Thankfully with the Galaxy S6 launcher, we can change it to anything we’d like.
So which page of the home screen you like to have set as the default? Let me know your thoughts about this feature in the comments section below.
