Galaxy S24’s ‘Live Translate Call’ Works on non-Samsung Phones too

One UI 6.0

Samsung’s next flagship smartphone set – the Galaxy S24 Series, is touted to come with several AI-based features that make the devices more premium and relevant to the current trend.

One among them is the Live Translate Call feature, which automatically translates an ongoing call, allowing people to understand an unknown language. While interesting, a new leak shows that the feature will work on non-Samsung phones, too.

Samsung’s Live Translate Call Function

With every major tech company infusing some form of AI in their products, their next year launches are expected to have more AI features to draw attention and beat the competition. One among them is Samsung, where the South Korean giant is preparing to launch it’s Galaxy S24 Series sometime in Q1 2024.

As we eagerly wait for them, leaks point to a new AI feature called “Live Translate Call“, that can translate an ongoing call to the desired language for easier understanding. This function could be part of the recently launched Galaxy AI suite, where Samsung unveiled it’s Gauss AI model and capabilities.

Now, a new report from Nikkei Asia revealed that the AI Live Translate Call will work when talking to someone with a non-Samsung phone, too! Well, the idea here is to make a Samsung user(who’s on either end of the call) understand the conversation, so it’s indirectly applicable to the other user, too.

Anyhow, Nikkei Asia says the feature will initially support languages with “the most users”, like English and Spanish, and other main languages like Korean and Japanese will be added after that.

This aside, a leak concerning OneUI 6.1, revealed features like photo expansion, an AI chatbot, tone adjustments for text, AI-generated wallpapers, and the ability to summarize notes. All these may appear in the upcoming Galaxy S24 Series alongside the AI Live Call Translation.
