Samsung announced two new versions of their popular Galaxy Note series last week. The Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 ultra were unveiled during last week’s Samsung Unpacked event.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and 20 Ultra: Design
Design wise, both phones look identical to the Galaxy Note 10 phones from last year. Both phones are however bigger and feature bigger displays.
The Galaxy Note 20 is 6.36×2.96×0.33 inches in dimension and has a 6.7 inch display, compared to the Galaxy Note 10’s 6.3 inch display. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is 6.49×3.04×0.31 inches in dimension and has a 6.9 inch display, compared to the Galaxy Note 10+’s 6.8 inch display.
The Note 20 ultra features a Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and 20 Ultra: Hardware
Hardware wise, both Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra feature a Snapdragon 865 Plus processor. The Note 20 features a 8 GB RAM whereas the Note 20 Ultra comes with a 12 GB RAM.
The Note 20 has a 4300 mAh Battery compare to the Note 20 Ultra’s 4500 mAh Battery. But the Note 20 is expected to be a lot more economical unless the Note 20 Ultra is operated at a lower refresh rate.
Both phones feature 3 main cameras and a front facing camera. The Note 20 has a 12 mp ultra-wide camera, a 12 mp wide-angle camera and a 64 mp telephoto camera. The Note 20 ultra has a 12 mp ultra-wide camera, a 108 mp wide-angle camera and a 12 mp telephoto camera.
Both phones feature a USB-C connector and have no headphone jacks.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and 20 Ultra: Release Date
Both the phones were made available for pre-order on August 6. They are expected to hit the shelves on August 21.
It will be interesting to see how the ongoing Corona virus pandemic and the resulting global recession will affect the sales of these phones. Experts believe customers will be more hesitant to spend a fortune on phones during these trying times, and may instead be more inclined to invest in cheaper phones like the $349 Pixel 4A which is said to have the best Android camera in the market right now.
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 & Note 20 Ultra: Price
The regular Galaxy Note 20 has been priced at $1000. This is $50 more than the entry level Galaxy Note 10 from last year. The Note 20 lacks 3 important features compared to the Ultra version: the periscope zoom lens, high refresh rates and microSD storage. It is also limited to 8 GB of RAM compared to the Note 20 Ultra’s 12 GB.
The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will be available in two versions. The 128 GB storage model will available for $1300 whereas the 512 GB storage model will be available for $1450.
