DuckDuckGo, the privacy-centric browser, has just released it’s Windows app in public beta, months after testing with a closed community.
The new DuckDuckGo beta app on Windows has all the necessary features to stop tracking and targeted advertising of users. Also, it has a built-in email box and an ad-free YouTube player. Interested users can try this now by downloading the beta app, provided that you’re okay with it’s unstable performance.
DuckDuckGo App on Windows OS
After having it’s clients on macOS, iOS and Android, DuckDuckGo is now bringing it’s browser to Windows, as the dedicated app enters public beta testing this week. DuckDuckGo for Windows has been in closed beta testing for months, available to ones with invites only.
Well, this has been removed now to let anyone on Windows try the privacy-centric browser. DuckDuckGo promises the best security and user privacy by blocking third-party trackers, search query logging and user profiling. This would reduce or at least make the ads irrelevant to users, thus safer browsing. Here’s the list that DuckDuckGo brought to it’s new Windows app;
- Innovative encryption – Automatic HTTPS upgrading for every site, where available.
- Cookie pop-up management – Hiding the cookie consent pop-ups on websites.
- Fire button – Erasing all browsing history and saved session information with just one click.
- Email Protection – Built-in DuckDuckGo Email Protection that strips all the tracking and advertising trackers from incoming emails.
- Duck Player – Built-in YouTube player for ad-free video streaming.
DuckDuckGo says all these features help the browser consume roughly 60% less data than Chrome, making it a better option for faster browsing. Further, the company plans to support extensions to expand the browser functionality. So if you’re interested, download the beta version of this app here.
