If you’re always checking to see how much mobile data you have used this month, Android Lollipop makes it incredibly easy with this simple shortcut.
Mobile data is expensive and not everyone wants to dig through Android’s settings just to check and see how much data we’ve used. With Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google has made it incredibly quick and easy to find out how much data we have used for the month. You don’t even have to leave the application you are in to check.
This is extremely helpful for those times when you’re short on time and just need to know what your usage level is at.
To access this information, simply swipe down from the top of the screen twice so that you can expand the Quick Settings panel for Android 5.0 Lollipop. From here, you’ll see all of your Quick Setting icons and one of those should be your wireless carrier(the one that shows you the signal strength). Simply tap on this signal strength icon and you’ll see a nice animation that covers up those Quick Settings icons and reveals your current data usage for the month.
You’ll see the data usage meter, just like you would see buried deep inside the Settings menu, the billing period that you’re in and two buttons. The More Settings button will take you directly into that mobile data screen that is buried inside the Settings menu. The Done button will remove the mobile data meter that you were just shown and bring back the standard Quick Settings icons that you saw earlier. You don’t even have to press the Done button if you don’t want. You could simply close up the Quick Settings panel by swiping up and Android will revert that back to how it was from the start.
Doesn’t work on Sony Xperia Z3
That’s a shame, thank you for the feedback though. What version of Android are you running on your Z3 right now?
In using the most recent official ROM for Australia. Its 5.0.2
Hrmm, I wonder if it is an Android 5.1 feature or if Sony took the feature out for some reason. Thanks again for the feedback
