After teasing earlier this week, OpenAI has launched the ChatGPT app for Android today in the U.S., India, Bangladesh and Brazil.
People in other countries must wait longer but can pre-register on the Google Play Store, where it’s already listed. Opening up the app, you can log in with your OpenAI credentials and see your past conversations if you have the ‘chat history and training’ enabled.
ChatGPT Android App is Now Live
After creating a stir in the tech community, OpenAI is expanding it’s niche offering – ChatGPT to mobile clients. The AI chatbot has had an iOS app for months and now there’s an Android app available. It was listed on the Google Play Store earlier this week and is now available for download in the U.S., India, Bangladesh and Brazil.
But if you’re from another country, you can pre-register for the app on the Play Store and you will also have to wait a bit longer. Making an Android app for ChatGPT is a milestone for OpenAI, as it has more people using Android than iOS worldwide.
These mobile clients work with your existing OpenAI account, so you can log in to see your past conversation if you have the “chat history & training” option enabled. Though ChatGPT is a free app, subscribing to it’s Plus version can open more possibilities.
OpenAI has recently refined ChatGPT with it’s new GPT-4 LLM, which brings additional features like text-to-image conversion, prioritised support etc. You can subscribe to ChatGPT Plus on either the web or mobile client and log in with the same account across devices to sync the user account history.
