Are you frustrated because your Android smartphone won’t charge as fast as it used to? You’re in a hurry and you realize your phone is low on charge. You hook it up for sometime but to no avail. Ugh. We know the feeling. Which is why we’re presenting you with some ways to improve the charging speed of your phone.
There are many reasons why a phone will charge slow. If it has something to do with aging hardware or perhaps even the battery itself, there is little you can do but replace them eventually. But in the mean time there are a few things you can do to boost the charging speed of your smartphone.
Here are 4 easy ways you can boost the charging speed of your Android smartphone:
1. Turn the phone off while charging to improve Charging Speed
This is perhaps the easiest way to boost the charging speed of your phone. Sure, turning the phone off will disconnect you from the world for some time. But it will significantly boost the charging speed of your phone.
2. Put your phone on airplane mode to improve Charging Speed
Another slightly less extreme way to boost your charging speed is to put your phone in Airplane mode while hooked up. Like in step 2, you will miss out on the notifications but if a few hours more of juice is worth this sacrifice, just do it! Since the airplane mode deactivates all wireless radios in your smartphone, it will reduce its battery consumption, hence boosting charging speed.
To activate airplane mode, pull down the settings bar on your phone and click on the “Airplane” logo.
3. Put your phone on Battery Saver Mode
Putting your phone on Battery Saver Mode can help conserve energy while you’re charging it. If neither turning off your phone nor putting it on airplane mode is an option, you should try this.
You will find the battery saver mode on Settings > Battery > Battery Saver
In addition to this, you can also try turning off some of the unused features like WiFi, Bluetooth etc.
4. Use the right type of Charger & Plug
The reason we put this no-brainer tip last on the list is because we are assuming you’re in a hurry. And getting the right type of charger isn’t much of a helpful tip when you’re in a hurry, is it?
But just in case you’re not, it is obviously wise to invest in the right kind of charger.
If your phone supports fast charging, get a fast charging charger. Also, if you’ve got the phone hooked to a USB port in your computer or laptop, unplug it and use a wall socket instead. You will get a measly 2.5 watts out of a USB 2.0 port, and 4.5 watts out of a USB 3.0 port. In contrast, most modern fast charging chargers can deliver upwards of 20 watts when plugged to a wall socket.
You will definitely need to invest in a good charger. If the charger that came with your phone or the one you’ve been using isn’t delivering, best get a new one. But beware of third-party chargers. If there’s one hazard you want to avoid with your phone, it is blowing up your battery!
