Following the criticism, Apple moved the end call button on iOS 17’s latest beta to the bottom centre, alongside other call options.
Though the company didn’t mention a reason for this change, we assume the developer feedback to be the primary reason while also making room for Contact Posters – displaying the face of people, motivating the move.
iOS 17 Beta 6 Changes
Since June, Apple has been testing iOS 17 beta with developers and refining it in every iteration accordingly. One of the recent changes that triggered the community is the placement of the end call button on the call screen – which was moved to the bottom right in the initial iOS 17 beta versions.
Until iOS 16, Apple had the end call button bottom of all other options. Though it took up a dedicated space, it allowed users to cut the call easily. But in the earlier iOS 17 beta versions, Apple moved the end call button to the bottom right, making a blank room at the top.
This triggered the community, though having the end call button to one corner may ease the reach. Due to this feedback, Apple has moved the end call button back to the bottom centre in the latest iOS 17 developer beta.
Another reason for the change is to create room for Contact Posters, which show the faces of people you’re talking to. Also, the lower call controls should make it easier to reach on larger phone screens.
Besides this, the latest iOS 17 beta has no other notable features. But if you’re interested in learning about all the minor changes, you can check MacRumors. And if you’re interested in trying out the iOS 17 beta for yourself, enrol yourself in the Apple Developer Program with your Apple ID.
Once done, download the iOS 17 beta from Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates. Make sure that you’re aware of possible issues the beta update brings, we recommend waiting for the stable update if you’re not a risk-taker. With iOS 17 beta 6 being the last beta update, Apple may roll out the first builds for public beta testing later this month and a stable version of iOS 17 in September.
