At CES 2024, ASUS introduced the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series, featuring top-of-the-line specifications. The series comprises of two devices: the standard ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro. These devices boast flagship-grade specifications, including the latest Qualcomm chipset and IP68 water and dust resistance. Explore the detailed specifications below:
ASUS ROG Phone 8 Series Specifications:
ASUS has revamped the rear appearance of it’s ROG gaming device this time. The phones now resemble conventional smartphones more than gaming-oriented ones. The rear side showcases a square camera module housing a triple rear camera setup and an LED flashlight. Engraved at the device’s bottom is the “Republic of Gamers” text along with the ROG logo.
Both devices sport a 6.78-inch FULL HD+ AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung. The display features a 165Hz fast refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 2500 nits under direct sunlight. This LTPO display panel can adjust the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.
Powering these devices is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, paired with the Adreno 750 GPU. They come equipped with up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. ASUS has integrated it’s signature Rapid-Cooling Conductor design, a part of it’s advanced “GameCool 8 Thermal Design”.
The camera setup includes a triple rear camera system, featuring a 50MP primary sensor with Gimbal stabilization for steady photos and videos. Alongside the primary sensor, there is a 13MP ultra-wide sensor and a 32MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. Positioned in a centered punch-hole cutout, the front hosts a 32MP selfie shooter with a 90-degree field of view. The ASUS ROG Phone 8 series incorporates numerous AI features in it’s camera system.
In contrast to it’s predecessor, these devices offer a slightly smaller battery pack, now featuring a 5,500 mAh battery instead of the previous 6,000 mAh. Both devices support 65W fast wired charging and 15W fast Qi wireless charging. They run on the ROG UI on top of Android 14 out of the box. The company assures users of two years of major OS updates and four years of Android security updates for these devices.
