Google Search is Adding a Stories-Like Feature, Called ‘Notes’

Following the suite of most social media platforms, Google is reportedly testing a Stories-like feature for it’s Search app calledNotes“.

Users can write text, add images and even stickers to Notes, which will be specific to every webpage instead of appearing as a whole in the Google Search results. A source tells 9to5Google that Notes should arrive in Google Search iOS and Android clients as soon as next month.

Google Notes on Every Webpage

Initially started by Snapchat, the concept of Stories was quickly adopted by other social media platforms and instant messengers due to it’s popularity. The ability to post something that disappears after a day is what most people need instead of sticking something to their timelines forever.

And cashing in on this feature lately is the tech giant Google, which is testing a similar feature called Notes in Search. As 9to5Google reported, Google Labs is experimenting with a new Stories clone for the Search app, displayable on individual web pages.

When available, users can post text, images and stickers on a Material You-inspired background that will display on individual web pages. An example is sharing your feedback on a recipe website via Notes. You can also share a picture of how your attempt at the dish turned out.

As for where these Notes will appear on a webpage, it is unknown and users can create them. But you should see an ‘Add Note‘ option when browsing a website and be able to post as desired. These will go live after being moderated and have a like/heart button to be liked by others.

Well, webpages of medical information or those with pornographic or violent content will be blocked from this feature. A source familiar with the matter said to 9to5Google that Notes will be coming to Google Search for iOS and Android apps sometime next month.
