This week, the team at PC Games Hardware (PCGH) have run a bunch of benchmark tests to determine several capabilities of Intel and AMD’s Ryzen CPUs, where the former stood significantly in terms of gaming performance.
The testers used several Intel Core and AMD Ryzen chips on a few AAA title games – coupled with Nvidia’s high-end desktop GPU to obtain optimum usage performance. And the results, check below;
Benchmark Testing of Intel and AMD CPUs
With the battle between Intel and AMD continuing to grow over time, determining who makes the best chips can only be revealed by independent and third-party testers. In this pursuit, we see the folks at PC Games Hardware (PCGH) testing a bunch of CPUs from Intel and AMD to check their performances on various counts.
The team included 28 Intel Core and AMD Ryzen CPUs – all coupled with PNY GeForce RTX 4090 EPIC-X GPU with ReBAR activated and updated drivers. The testing was done on several popular benchmark software, viz CineBench R23, 3DMark Time Spy Extreme (CPU), Handbrake, 7-Zip, Adobe Premiere Pro (Puget) and Adobe Photoshop (Puget), with the following AAA games;
- The Callisto Protocol
- Doom Eternal
- Dying Light
- F1 22
- Microsoft Flight Simulator
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Total War Warhammer 3
- The Witcher 3 (Next-gen version)
- Anno 1800
- Hitman 3
- Cyberpunk 2077

The results, as you can see above, show that Intel CPUs top the chart in several segments. Concerning the high-end chips – Intel’s Core i9-13900KS has outperformed Ryzen’s 7950X processor, even though the latter offers similar frequency with twelve threads and the same memory.
Further, the team noted a performance rate of 19.4% and 3.2% for Intel chips against AMDs in terms of gaming and application usage – depicting how reliable the intel chips are made for gamers.
Well, what’s intriguing is the test process done on a 720p screen with resolutions 1280 x 720, which the team noted as a the “usual” resolution one would have. Yet, these latest benchmark scores show a clear distinction between Intel and AMD chips in the performance and gaming segments – letting users make a better choice as per their needs.
