2021 has been a confusing and depressing year. With most game shows delayed or served online, all of us fans didn’t have a chance to enjoy a sight of new games for the whole year. Now that we have arrived in the year 2022, we may expect something great as companies are introducing their new game lineups in this new year.
Previously, we were given a chance of a beta version of Elden Ring, possibly one of the most awaited games in 2022. We also saw a glimpse of what looks like a sequel to Breath of The Wild with shots of Links gliding through the air using some kind of new mechanism.
Over a hundred games are scheduled for 2022, including the sequel to God of War, Breath of the Wild, and Horizon Zero Dawn. It’s just a lot of numbers to comprehend, but let us start with the first five most anticipated games in 2022.
1. Elden Ring
At last, the long-awaited game can be played finally in February 2022. This exciting collaboration between From Software and George R.R Martin has successfully created a Souls-like game with tons of improvements and game mechanisms. The closed network test last year gave us a glimpse of what the Elden Ring could be.
A bit different from other Souls games, Elden Ring approaches an open-world environment you can fully explore. You may take a walk or gallop around using your Spectral Steed. The combat system, though, has received a bit of improvement as well.
The game will be available on 25th February 2022, on PlayStation 4 and 5; PC; and Xbox One, Series X/S.
2. Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West, a sequel to the unique open world game, Horizon Zero Dawn is ready to play on the latest PlayStation platforms on February 18, 2022. In the previous trailer, the character Aloy in the game Horizon Forbidden West will explore the new land with different tribes and possibly new equipment.
Players will also meet the new monster Slitherfang, a robotic creature that combines a cobra and a giant rattlesnake. Joining Aloy on her new journey would be much fun, considering how many new things we’re going to discover in February this year.
3. Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild 2
Last year’s Nintendo E3 Direct showed us what looked like a sequel to Breath of The Wild. Starting with the reversed melody of the sorrow, we witnessed a new possible boss encounter that looked like a corrupted version of Ganon.
What’s great about this is not just the usual Hyrule environment we’ve been familiar with for the past years. Link showed us the world of the sky with floating islands and temples. Yes, you may now explore the sky using certain equipment that Link has. Link has a set of new abilities on his Sheikah Slate, one of which is the liquid-like hook that takes you to the upper islands by warping into it.
The release date is in question, but the platform is Nintendo Switch, as we all knew already. If you plan to play for this on the go, we highly recommend using decent protection software to download it. You can use best antivirus software, when you download games on Switch or other devices. It can protect you while running the download process in the background. On some occasions, it can also speed up the download as well.
4. Splatoon 3
Splatoon is a family-friendly shooting game from Nintendo. It has successfully created a legacy and iconic brand to be a fun, enjoyable shooting experience where you can compete with different teams using not guns but paintball shooters—the unique world where the game is set in will show you the unique side of the Splatoon series. Splatoon 3 was revealed with a teaser showing our main character (with cute and creative character customization) in a desert-like environment with wild-west music in the background. It is still the same game we’ve been familiar with. While there are rumours of this game getting delayed (again), let us hop on the hype train and welcome Splatoon 3 to come in 2022.
5. Stray
While there are many games that use cats as their icons, Stray has given a somehow unique approach to this particular animal. Stray is a game about walking, and by seeing its premises shown through a couple of trailers, we could digest a concept where we play as a cat exploring post-human civilization with robots and fancy tech junkies.
With a rough year having passed, having a relaxing game where we could chill and explore the city as a cat in a dystopian world is sure interesting.
